US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) issued a Trade Outreach announcement stating “It is with deep regret that we inform you of the need to postpone the much-anticipated East Coast Trade Symposium, previously scheduled for October 24-25, 2013, in Washington, D.C.”

The postponement is a result of more than two weeks of the US Government shut down and protracted lapse in appropriations. These circumstances have impacted CBP’s ability to effectively plan for an event of this stature. CBP was hoping the appropriations issues would be resolved by now, and they would be able to proceed as planned. This is no longer possible, but CBP is committed to hosting the event at a later date and looks forward to announcing new dates for this event as soon as possible.

Those who have already registered will be receiving a refund of their registration fee. The refunds will be processed once the partial government shutdown is concluded.

Stay tuned on Global Trade News for information regarding new dates, as they become available.
